Plenty

As I pulled one of the four ShoesUnder from beneath my bed this morning I thought "Wow, I have close to fifty pairs of shoes stashed neatly under my bed!" its amazing that they are all organized by style, one for athletic shoes, one for cute flats and two for sexy heels. No clutter and I can find what I'm looking very quickly. Then I thought "Who the hell needs fifty pairs of shoes, when some people in the world don't have any?" Needless to say I started my day feeling very blessed and a little guilty. I am so glad that I can buy trivial things like shoes I don't really need and have a home with a bed to cram them all under! So I decided to do something nice for someone today. I logged onto a site and found a lovely pair of shoes that are not only cute but also vegan and will look great on me. "Wait?!" you say "We thought you were buying shoes for someone less fortunate than yourself" Yes, get this, I buy a pair and the company gives a pair to a child in need of shoes. So I can fill one more slot in my ShoesUnder and feel a little better about my shoe addiction. Thus, today I am grateful for ShoesUnder and even more for TOMS Shoes.

Who doesn't love Chelsea?

If you don't love her, what the hell's wrong with you? I have found a kindred spirit in Chelsea Handler. One of my favorite pass times is sitting around with a good drink and talking about just how asinine I think some situations or people are, I just don't get paid for it. And apparently she has good taste in shoes (or maybe it's her stylist), but that also gains her points in my book. So today I am grateful for the fact that Chelsea has a show and that I get to watch it.

What made me laugh today!

The Sundance Channel's Green Porno 1 and Green Porno 2 with Isabella Rossellini is funny and slightly educational. So I'm grateful for Green Porno. Who wouldn't be?

Yesterday was just one of those days

Was there a full moon last night or is one coming? I had one of those irritating days where just a whole lot of little things got under my skin and all I could do at the end was crawl into bed with a book and a glass of wine. From the local cable company telling me that my free deal with them really isn't free (what a suprise, huh?), to my internet service going out, and the kid's report card not living up to either of our expectations, little things just chipped away at my already cranky mood. I know all of it sounds trivial and you're right, but it was just enough. So the things I was most grateful for at the end of the day were books and wine. Kudos the the creators of both!

Plastic on the wind

As I sat at an absurdly long traffic light in the middle of rush hour, I spied a largish plastic bag floating on the wind. As we languished at the light the bag decided (or maybe it was the wind) to set down between my car and the one in front of me. I stared at the bag with what must have been a look of dread on my face. I don't know if you've ever gotten a plastic bag stuck to the under carriage of your car, but when it melts there it's just no fun. As I contemplated getting out of my car in an attempt to get to the bag before the wind picked it up again or the light changed or both, a guy starts across the street, looking as though he may have hit happy hour, but in his defense it was after 5:00. He makes it half way across and then quickly comes over and steps on the bag then reaches down and retrieves it, turns around and goes right back the way he came. I don't know if he read the horror of the impending meltiness on my face, but whatever it was I smiled a huge dorky smile and thought "I sure am grateful for people who pick up random trash off the street." I told you, it was a really long light.

Tuesday, still waiting.

It's only 4:27 here, so I have the rest of the day to find my happy thought! Waaiit for it...
